Scripture and the Word of the Lord is at the heart of everything...
Scripture and the Word of the Lord is at the heart of everything we and do and say from Early Years right through to Year 6. As a school family we have life and live it to the full by following in Jesus' footsteps each and every day.
Year 4: Personalised Prayer Area
We love our personalised prayer area which is in a quiet corner. It is peaceful and cosy. We can sit and pray or sit and read - we have a special basket of books that can help us to pray or think of Jesus. Above our board you will see our 'In Year 4, God helps us remember we are...' display - this reminds us to thank God everyday for our gifts and talents. Stay with us Lord on our journey.
CAFOD Family Fast Day
With CAFOD Family Fast Day approaching, we took some time to explore the differences we can make by helping those in need. We made use of the CAFOD resources and followed the stories of families who were recently impacted by the unfortunate floods in Pakistan. We recognise how we can make a difference to those across the world by donating to CAFOD and the donations we received were fantastic!. Alongside this, we looked at our local community and how we could support those in need. We provided food donations for our local church ‘Welcome Centre’ and were blown away by the generosity across the school. We understand that by fasting and donating, we are standing in solidarity with those who are in need whilst seeking the common good for all. A great example of Catholic Social Teaching Principles in action!
Year 1: Baptism
In Year 1 the children have been learning about Baptism. The children have been focusing on the symbols used during Baptism - including Holy Water. To help the children understand why Holy Water is used we collected prayer stones from our Peace garden. The children washed these stones in Holy Water to symbolise washing away their sins during the Baptism ceremony.
We prayed alongside the scripture "Nothing can separate us from God's love" Romans 8:39.
Year 4: Advent Journey
Year 4 have began their Advent journey. We are joining Caritas at Salford Diocese in their #BeeThere project. We have watched the video and pledged to make a small change this Advent to help people dream again. We have also reminded ourselves about the true meaning of Advent and have chose to share this by creating our own Advent calendars. Each window is filled with a symbol, message or meaning relating to Advent.
Year 6: Advent Journey
This week, Year 6 began their Advent Journals. We began by thinking of those in our community who are less fortunate than ourselves and how we can support them in the lead up to Christmas. We look forward to adding to our journals throughout Advent as we prepare for the celebration of the birth of Jesus.
Year 1: Our Local Church and Community
Year 1 have been learning about their local church and parish community - as part of our understanding we visited our church to make some observational drawings. We listened to the scripture "Lift your hands up to the holy place and bless the LORD!" Psalm 134:2.
Year 5: Lenten Prayer Station
The children engaged in a Lenten Prayer Station with a sense of reverence and curiosity. Each child sat at a station; heads bowed in thoughtful contemplation. The room echoed with a hushed symphony of whispered prayers as the children reflected on the significance of Lent. We were also honoured that a family member took part and shared this experience with us.
Reception: Easter Bonnet Parade and Holy Week
The children took part in an Easter Bonnet Parade to raise money for St Joseph's Penny. We raised a total of £44.50. Thank you to all who supported and took part. The children looked wonderful in their Easter Bonnets!
During Holy Week, the children learnt about Jesus' death and resurrection. We made, blessed and broke bread together and re-enacted the crucifixion. The children were very respectful and prayerful throughout.

Year 4: Celebration of the Word Service
Year 4 co-planned a Celebration of the Word service to share with their families and friends. The scripture they chose was the story of the Epiphany. They responded to the Word in beautiful ways: creating artwork, exploring and representing symbols linked to the Word and writing their own prayers. For the Mission part of our celebration, the children created an 'exploding' gift for Jesus with a promise inside of some thoughts, words or actions they will try to do each day during 2025, so that they can shine like Him....
Year 4: Advent Prayer Stations
Year 4 invited their families and close friends in so they could pray together during the season of Advent. Some of the children began the prayer stations by inviting everyone to be still and silent, this helped to prepare our hearts and minds so we were ready to spend some time with special time with God. Everyone then got to pray in different and unique ways, as they moved around the prayer stations.
Year 6: Holy Week Assembly
Year delivered a beautiful assembly this during Holy Week. They focussed on some of Jesus’ final moments before his crucifixion and explored the symbolism of the gospel. It was also a wonderful chance to share their Stations of the Cross artwork! The children were really creative with their individual representations and looked to include scripture references throughout.
Reception: World Religions - Islam
Mrs Begum and Mrs Ranu brought Prayer Mats and Islamic artefacts to share with us to represent their faith. They showed us photos of the celebrations they were looking forward to for Eid and talked about how they have prayed and fasted during Ramadan. The children loved learning about another religion and asked lots of interesting questions.
Reception: Praying with Paint
We have taken part in Praying with Paint several times this half term where we have been listening to the Story of the Three Trees. We have learnt about Jesus’ death and resurrection in a respectful and calm manner and have had the opportunity for questions and discussions. The children enjoyed reenacting the Last Supper where we made and broke bread just like Jesus did with his friends on Holy Thursday.
Year 4: CAFOD Workshop
Year 4 had the opportunity to participate in a workshop with Edwina from CAFOD. Edwina helped our children become pilgrims of HOPE. They went on a journey to complete their Pilgrimage passport and explore the Catholic Social Teachings we are living by as we become pilgrims of hope.
Year 4: May is the Month of Mary
Year 4 worked together to beautify their prayer tables for May to celebrate Our Lady. Father Gavin blessed us with some lovely Mary symbols for our prayer tables. We loved praying together with this as our focal point and spending time over there praying alone to Our Lady. We prayed the Rosary together during the month; we also made our own 'Mary statues' and Bouquets to take home so we could create our own Mary Prayer Focal Points at home to use with our families.
Year 6: Prayer Stations 'Gratitude'
Year 6 enjoyed their final Prayer Stations session of the year. With a focus on gratitude, they planned their own prayer activities linking them to Scripture and the theme of giving thanks. A perfect time to reflect on our primary school journey together before we take our exciting next steps onto high school!
Year 5: Mass with Father Gavin
Year 5 led a beautiful Mass with Father Gavin today. The scriptures were rooted in peace and the children collectively worked to create some bidding prayers to share with the parishioners, with this theme entwined within the prayers. They chose hymns that continued to spread the message of peace and came together to sing: 'Lord I Need You' after communion. Our Year 5s also welcomed the parishioners and were responsible for the offertory and the collection.
Father Gavin wowed the children in his homily, with his amazing 'miracle' using water, which he stained with sins (that the children shared), and then he used his cross to show how Jesus washes our sins away and makes us new, when we love Him and live by His word.
Our parish family left Mass with hearts full of peace and a thoughtful reminder that we are called to be peacemakers and do all we do, with Jesus' love in our heart and minds.
‘Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream." Isaiah
"And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God." Galatians
Year 4: Holy Week
Year 4 used scripture to recall the events of Holy Week. They called upon their own Passion Play and the narratives from different Gospel Writers, then used all of this exploration and understanding to create their own comic strip or storyboard style retell.
They had the choice to retell in a third person style or dig deeper and focus on perspective, wonder and inference by retelling the events with a focus on thinking about what the 'characters' thoughts, feelings and possible spoken words might have been. Here are the masterpieces they created! AMAZING!
Year 3: Celebration of the Word
Year 3 have had a fantastic start to the year. We have responded to a Celebration of the Word led by the GIFT team and spent more time with Jesus, by praying through creating a Romero cross. We recommitted to peace in the peace garden together. We loved our workshop with Just Youth where we created boats of hope.
Year 2: Celebration of the Word with Greg
We were so lucky recently to welcome Greg into our school and classroom. Greg is the man who delivers our Little Liturgies session each week and the children absolutely loved seeing him! He delivered a Celebration of the Word to Year 2, they were all very respectful and grateful to be in Greg's presence.
Year 6: 'Little Way Week’ inspired by St Therese of Lisieux
This week is ‘Little Way Week’ inspired by St Therese of Lisieux. Like her, we remember that we can do little things with great love everyday. ‘Kindness is my only guiding star. In its light, I sail a straight route.’ We thought about ways we can practice kindness in our own lives.
Year 4: Mass - Let us grow in faith, even when it feels as small as a mustard seed...
Year 4 did an AMAZING job leading Mass with Father Gavin on the 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time. They explained how the readings were going to reaffirm our understanding of faith, trust and humble service. During his homily, Father Gavin asked the children to reflect and debate about the order of: belong, believe and behave. In the end the order was agreed: belong - first I belong to my family and my church family; believe - they help me know what to believe by taking me to church so I can listen to the Word of God and have time building a strong relationship with God; behave - my belonging and believing helps guide me to behave in a way that shows I am a child of God. The children read and sang beautifully; the church was full and many people came over to say well done and comment on how fantastic the children were, so proud.
God helps us have a special place at the heart of our community.
Reception: Praying with Paint
We Prayed with Paint this afternoon in Reception. This is a chance for the children to be mindful and in the present moment. We used an abstract image for the children to look at which depicted Baptism. The children were very thoughtful with their responses both verbal and through their paintings. They also showed great respect for their friends when they disagreed with someone about what the picture showed, they were able to adapt their thinking sometimes. The children loved having the chance to share their thoughts and creations with the rest of the class.
Year 4: Creation and Covenant Assembly
Year 4 planned and led a beautiful assembly around their creation and covenant journey. They created a bespoke and personalised piece of art work that reflected their deeper understanding throughout this branch; they loved sharing their artwork with their grown ups and the story of creation.
Reception: Celebrating Baptism
The Reception children have been celebrating Baptism. We know that at Baptism, a person is welcomed into the church family and it is a very special day. The children had a Baptism for Daisy-Marie. Sharon and Henry were the parents and Elspeth and Alex were the God Parents who promised to take care of Daisy-Marie and show her how to live and look after God’s world. They also promised to look after her and teach her about God. The Baptism was celebrated by Father Carter who blessed the water to make it holy and then Baptised Daisy-Marie. Everyone was so happy because it was such a special day!
Year 1: The Easter Story
During Holy Week we have listened to the Easter story and learnt about how Easter is celebrated around the world. We focused on the tradition of making .alfombras which is followed in Guatemala. We made our own alfombra carpet pieces to show symbols of Jesus' life.
As we approached the end of Holy Week we spent time reflecting on what Easter means to us and took part in some prayerful painting.
Year 3: Prayer Station
At our prayer station, the children took part in a range of thoughtful activities linked to the Gospel story of the Last Supper. They reflected on the significance of Jesus sharing bread and wine with his disciples and considered the importance of sharing, friendship and remembrance in their own lives.
