Year 4: Pavillions

Year 4 have been enjoying researching pavilions.

Year 2: Pouches

Year 2 have started a new DT project. We will be designing and making our own pouches! In our first lesson we we started to practise our running stitch but before we could do this we needed to learn how to thread our needles and knot the thread. We needed a lot of perseverance as these were all tricky skills!

Year 2: Sewing

We are continuing to practise our skills of threading our own needles and knotting our own thread. We need to do this before we attempt our running stitch. Our DT lessons are certainly developing our resilience and patience!

Year 3: Cross Stitch

We used cross stitch and appliqué techniques to design, make and evaluate our own cushions.

Year 4: Slingshot Cars

In Year 4, we designed and constructed slingshot cars. We made chassis using lolly sticks and then created panels to become the outside of our cars. Look at our masterpieces.

Reception: Sandwiches

The children in Reception have recently been tasting ingredients and designing their own sandwiches. This week we used our designs to make our sandwiches, we then enjoyed a picnic with our Special Friends from Year 6.

Year 3: Pasta Salad

In DT, we made pasta salad using seasonal vegetables. We enjoyed eating our creations with Y2 during our picnic.

Year 5: Doodlers

As part of our Design and Technology topic (mechanics), the children in Year 5 had to work as a team to design and create their own 'Doodlers.' Using a cup, motor, battery, wires and glue, the Doodlers ‘draw’ independently.

Year 2: Levers and Linkages

In DT we are making a moving monster as we have been focusing on levers and linkages .

Year 1: Smoothies

In Design Technology we have explored pre made smoothies and practised chopping, juicing and tasting the individual ingredients before planning and making our own.

Year 2: Healthy Me

In DT the children have been learning about a balanced diet and the food groups. They have practiced their cutting and scooping skills, in preparation for making a wrap for their picnic.

Year 3: Bringing the Stone Age to Life!

Year 3 collected natural materials such as twigs, leaves and mud, to build amazing roundhouses, discovering how people lived thousands of years ago.

Year 1: Moving Pictures

As our unit on 'Moving Pictures' came to an end the Year 1 children demonstrated their Nursery Rhyme story boards to the Reception children.

Year 1: Picnic Smoothies

We have been thinking about the ingredients needed to make a smoothie. We carried out a taste test, practiced our chopping skills and then made our own smoothies that we enjoyed as part of a picnic with Year 3 and 5.

Year 3: Picnic Day!

The children enjoyed preparing seasonal pittas for our picnic, practising their chopping, cutting and food preparation skills using a variety of fresh vegetables as part of their DT topic.
